About this camp

The George A. Jeffries NanoExplorers Summer Research Program is an immersive 8-week non-residential program designed for high school students aged 16 and above. Participants engage in hands-on scientific and engineering research, working directly with faculty mentors, staff, and graduate students across various STEM fields at The University of Texas at Dallas, including Natural Science and Mathematics, Engineering and Computer Science, and Behavioral and Brain Science. Students are paired with a faculty mentor's laboratory based on their interests and are treated as integral members of the lab, contributing to actual research programs. The program aims to inspire students to become productive scientists and engineers by enabling them to conduct original research work. The experience culminates in a symposium where participants present their summer research findings. Alumni of the program have demonstrated significant success, including gaining admission to highly-ranked universities, co-authoring seminal publications, and winning international scholarships and awards.
