This camp provides a curiosity-driven exploration environment where young learners actively engage in fun, hands-on challenges, racing across the Milky Way with fifteen astronomy projects.
Camp Cosmos offers elementary-aged campers an immersive journey through space with hands-on astronomy projects. Participants will engage in activities such as experimenting with screaming balloon rockets, using Solar Glasses, constructing Star Finders and telescopes, and building and launching their own rockets. The curriculum also includes creating glow-in-the-dark models of Saturn, designing UV bracelets, building sundials, and modeling the solar system. Through these projects, campers develop enhanced problem-solving skills, critical thinking, creativity, and collaboration. They gain an understanding of fundamental scientific principles like Newton's Laws of Motion, learn about planets and constellations, and explore the history of space travel, fostering a lasting curiosity for what lies beyond our atmosphere.
A typical full day includes a morning greeting, a science demonstration, a morning science lesson block, lunch, recess, teambuilding games, an afternoon science block, clean up, and pack up.
This camp is ideal for children curious about what lies beyond our atmosphere and for future rocket scientists or astronauts.
