This intensive 8-week workshop provides advanced high school students with hands-on experience in AI and machine learning, culminating in a real-life capstone project and the opportunity for a recommendation letter.
The UT Dallas CS K-12 Outreach 8-week Deep-dive AI Workshop is an intensive, in-person program for advanced high school students aged 15 and up. Participants will delve into Python programming, data analysis, and the application of AI concepts to real-life projects. The curriculum covers foundational Python for AI and data science, including libraries like NumPy, pandas, and Matplotlib/Seaborn. Students will gain skills in data processing, exploratory data analysis, and understanding various data types and formats. The workshop introduces core machine learning concepts, model building (decision trees, neural networks), and basics of deep learning, computer vision, and sequence models. The program emphasizes ethical considerations and responsible AI development. The culmination of the workshop is a capstone project where students apply their acquired knowledge and skills, followed by presentations.
A typical day runs from 9:30 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday through Friday, with a one-hour lunch break. Supervision is provided from 9:00 AM to 4:30 PM.
