The Research Ignited AI Scholars Program is a 10-week online course designed for high school students with no prior programming experience who want to explore Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML). This beginner-friendly program provides a hands-on introduction to AI concepts, coding fundamentals, and real-world applications, equipping students with valuable 21st-century skills. Students will understand the basics of AI and Data Science, learn Python programming and key libraries (NumPy, Pandas, Matplotlib), and explore Machine Learning concepts like regression, classification, and neural networks. The program includes hands-on AI projects in Computer Vision and Natural Language Processing (NLP), and students will gain insights into AI ethics, bias, and responsible AI development. The program culminates in a final AI project and a certificate of completion, providing students with a portfolio of 6+ impressive AI projects and a personalized capstone project to enhance college applications.
Each 2-hour session typically begins with an interactive lecture introducing an AI/ML concept, followed by a live coding walkthrough where the instructor demonstrates applying the concept using real datasets. The session concludes with students working on a guided hands-on project with missing code sections they must complete, with instructors providing support and feedback.
