The UT Dallas AI Research Workshop is an 8-week intensive, in-person program designed for advanced high school students (age 15+). Participants will engage in a deep dive into Artificial Intelligence, focusing on advanced coding, data analysis, and the application of these skills to real-life AI/ML projects. The curriculum covers foundational Python programming for AI and data science, working with Jupyter Notebooks and Google Colab, and utilizing core libraries like NumPy, pandas, and Matplotlib/Seaborn for data visualization. Students will also explore machine learning fundamentals, neural networks, and deep learning frameworks such as TensorFlow. The workshop culminates in a capstone project where students build an end-to-end AI/ML project using real-world data, choosing a domain like sports, healthcare, finance, social media, or climate. They will then present and demonstrate their projects, gaining valuable experience in model building, evaluation, and visualization. The program aims to provide a strong foundation in AI, practical skill-building, and an impressive portfolio project, along with a camp completion certificate and a performance-based recommendation letter.
A typical day runs from 9:30 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday to Friday, with an hour-long lunch break. Supervision is provided from 9:00 AM to 4:30 PM.
