The TCU Athletic Training Workshop is an immersive, on-campus residential experience designed for high school students interested in athletic training. The workshop offers two tracks: the Mustang Track for students with little to no prior experience, and the Frog Track for advanced high school or junior college students with previous experience working with injured athletes. Participants will develop hands-on athletic training skills, learn the role and responsibilities of an athletic trainer, and practice skills necessary to prepare athletes for practice and competition. The curriculum includes learning taping procedures, injury prevention, and performance preparation. Advanced students will also delve into rehabilitation, evaluation techniques, and specific taping procedures. Students will participate in clinical coursework and visit TCU's state-of-the-art athletic training facilities, gaining insight into athletic training education pathways. Recreational facilities are available during free time, with interactive activities and relaxation in the evenings.
A typical day involves hands-on athletic training skill development, clinical coursework in TCU's athletic training facilities, and learning about injury prevention and athlete preparation. Evenings include recreational activities and relaxation time.
This workshop is ideal for high school students with varying levels of experience who are serious about exploring a career in athletic training and gaining practical skills in a university setting.
