The program offers an intensive, in-person, 8-week deep-dive into AI and machine learning, taught by UTD CS doctorate and graduate students with faculty lead supervision, culminating in real-life AI projects and a potential recommendation letter.
The UT Dallas K12 Deep-Dive AI Workshop is an 8-week intensive in-person program designed for advanced high school students aged 15 and up. Participants will delve into the foundations of Python programming and data science, including working with Jupyter Notebooks and Google Colab. The curriculum covers essential tools for data analysis like NumPy, pandas, and graphics, crucial for machine learning models. Students will learn about machine learning concepts, identify problems solvable with ML, and build AI/ML models such as decision trees and neural networks. The workshop emphasizes applying these skills to real-life AI projects, fostering a deep understanding of artificial intelligence and machine learning. Students will also have the opportunity to receive a camp completion certificate and a recommendation letter based on their performance.
A typical day runs from 9:30 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday to Friday, with an hour-long lunch break. Supervision is provided from 9:00 AM to 4:30 PM. Each session will start with one-hour lecture followed by hands-on activities.
This workshop is ideal for advanced high school students (age 15+) with prior familiarity with Python programming and high school level math, who are willing to invest time and energy to learn advanced coding and data analysis skills.
